Bud, Carol, & Abbott
We first met you at your puppy class when our Golden Retriever, Abbott, was a few months old. We were most impressed with your firm yet gentle training technique. For the most part, Abbott was most interested in the socializing part of the class although he did win a sit/stay competition toward the end of the 6 week class.
As Abbott grew, so did his energy and strength and we were having trouble handling him. We couldn't control him on lead and he was fast becoming more than we could manage. He was mouthing us, jumping on us, counter surfing, overwhelming guests and basically becoming incorrigible. You agreed to take him for your two-week in-home program and we brought him to you at the end of April when he was eleven months old. Two weeks later, you brought us a different dog. He and my husband now look forward to their daily walks in the neighborhood. It is no longer a struggle. He rarely counter surfs and responds to a quick "off" command when he has a slip. We have no mouthing or jumping. He waits at the door until released. He leaves things (including treats) alone when told to "leave it". In short, Abbott is now a pleasure to have around. Of course, Abbott's not perfect but with your help we've been able to continue working with Abbott at home and we see improvement every day. When you brought him home to us, you sent us a progress report with many tips to help with further training. This has been most helpful. |
